Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) – Cloud Engineer

About the role

Our client is embarking on a major cloud transformation and needs an experienced Site Reliability Engineer to help build and operate highly available, scalable cloud platforms. You will join a high‑performing engineering team and work across Azure and Google Cloud environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain highly available infrastructure in multi‑cloud environments.
• Implement SRE best practices such as observability, resilience and automation.
• Develop Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and automate processes with Python.
• Support containerised workloads and manage Kubernetes clusters.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and application issues across Linux and Windows systems.
• Collaborate with development, platform and security teams to improve stability and performance.
• Assist with CI/CD pipeline integration and cloud‑native operational processes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a Site Reliability Engineering, Cloud Engineering or DevOps role.
• Hands‑on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Microsoft Azure.
• Strong scripting and automation skills, particularly in Python.
• Extensive use of Terraform and Infrastructure as Code principles.
• Solid understanding of Kubernetes, containerisation and workload orchestration.
• Experience working with both Linux and Windows operating systems.

What we offer

• Day rate of £400‑£450 (inside IR35) via an umbrella company.
• Hybrid working arrangement based in Glasgow.
• Initial 6‑month contract with potential extension.
