Site Safety Lead – Fort Halstead

About the role

Join QinetiQ at the Fort Halstead site as a Site Safety Lead, providing professional safety advice and driving a step‑change in safety culture across a complex defence research environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead by example to promote a positive safety culture and embed Care and Thrive values.
• Partner with site leadership to provide expert HSE advice, ensuring compliance and competence.
• Drive implementation of HSE legislation, policies and objectives through stakeholder engagement.
• Deliver safety improvements via training, coaching and effective communication.
• Lead and support accident, incident and occupational health investigations.
• Monitor and improve HSE performance through audits, inspections, reporting and ISO compliance.

Required profile

• Strong practical expertise in Health & Safety management systems, including ISO 45001 implementation and awareness of ISO 14001.
• Proven experience leading site safety initiatives and driving behavioural change in complex operational environments.
• Extensive knowledge of operations, engineering and service delivery with hands‑on HSE management experience.
• Skilled in accident and incident investigation, root‑cause analysis and regulatory engagement.
