Site Safety Supervisor

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Site Safety Supervisor to lead health and safety activities on a major construction and civil engineering project in Birmingham. The role involves providing front‑line safety leadership, ensuring compliance with regulations and promoting a safe working environment throughout the site.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with supervisors, foremen, works managers and delivery teams to embed safety practices.
• Facilitate daily briefings, task briefings and point‑of‑work risk assessment (POWRA) processes.
• Identify unsafe behaviours, intervene and support stop‑work decisions when controls are missing.
• Ensure all personnel understand RAMS, permits, emergency arrangements and safe systems of work.
• Coach site teams on safe work methods and maintain accurate records of observations and corrective actions.

Required profile

• NEBOSH Construction or General Certificate (or IOSH) together with strong health‑and‑safety experience.
• Alternatively, NVQ Level 3‑4 in Construction Site Supervision or related field.
• Valid CSCS Gold Supervisor Card, Black Manager Card or equivalent.
• Proven experience in construction, infrastructure, heavy civil, tunnelling or lifting operations.
• Solid understanding of RAMS, permits, briefings and point‑of‑work risk assessments.

Required skills

• Ability to produce clear safety documentation and reports.
• Proficient use of IT tools for recording observations.
