Site Supervisor – Recycling Centre (Walthamstow)

About the role

The Site Supervisor will lead the South Access Road Recycling team at the Walthamstow Reuse & Recycling Centre. You will ensure safe, efficient and compliant operations while supporting and motivating a dedicated workforce. The role also requires stepping in for Area RRC Supervisors and the Contracts Manager when needed.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with Waste Management Permits, health & safety regulations and company procedures.
• Conduct site inspections, report findings and manage waste tonnage returns to the Environmental Agency.
• Oversee vehicle and mobile plant usage, ensuring cost‑effective operation and regular maintenance.
• Control site expenditure, meet contractual obligations and propose operational improvements.
• Lead, train and motivate staff, resolve employee relations issues and supervise subcontractors.
• Liaise with external stakeholders and stand in for senior supervisors as required.
• Maintain electronic systems, including the Gatehouse system, and ensure timely reporting.

Required profile

• Proven experience in site supervision within waste management, recycling or related industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation and waste‑management permitting.
• Ability to manage budgets, contracts and operational KPIs.
• Effective leadership and people‑management skills.
• Flexibility to cover additional supervisory duties when needed.
