Site Technician – Civil Engineering

About the role

We are seeking a Site Technician to join a growing civil engineering business in Welwyn Garden City. The role involves carrying out a variety of structural investigations and testing methods on client sites, supporting project delivery and data collection.

Key responsibilities

• Perform testing and investigations such as Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), coring and Schmidt hammer tests.
• Maintain and calibrate testing equipment.
• Follow health and safety regulations on‑site.
• Collaborate with engineers and site managers to meet project objectives.
• Record and report field data for analysis.
• Mentor trainee technicians where required.

Required profile

• Proficiency in operating testing equipment.
• Experience working in field‑based environments.
• Strong organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
• Interest in civil engineering and construction operations.
• Ability to work outdoors in physically demanding conditions.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to travel and stay overnight as needed.
