Skilled Floor Layer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Skilled Floor Layer to join the Bathroom Adaptations Team for a local council in Bournemouth, Dorset. You will install specialist flooring systems in level‑access shower rooms and adapted bathrooms, ensuring safety and high‑quality finishes.

Key responsibilities

• Install safety flooring, cap and cove systems, and vinyl flooring in occupied domestic properties.
• Carry out hot‑air and floor‑joint welding for specialist finishes.
• Prepare subfloors, including latex screeding, smoothing compounds and minor repairs on concrete and timber bases.
• Fit and finish sheet vinyl, handling detailed work around sanitary ware, shower trays and pipework.
• Collaborate with plumbers, bathroom fitters and other trades during refurbishment projects.
• Use an iPad to receive job schedules, complete inspection forms, and upload certifications and photos.

Required profile

• Valid UK driving licence (a van will be provided).
• Hard‑working, enthusiastic and able to work independently.
• Experience working in occupied domestic properties, preferably with disability adaptations.
• Good people skills and the ability to manage workload effectively.

What we offer

• £40,000 per annum (PAYE) – salary dependent on experience
• Full‑time, 39‑hour week (9 am‑5 pm, Monday‑Friday)
