Skilled Groundworker – Civil Engineering Projects Across UK

About the role

MJS Construction Ltd is seeking an experienced groundworker to join its nationwide civil engineering team. Based in Birmingham, you will travel to various sites across the UK, delivering high‑quality groundwork on infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Operate plant and machinery such as excavators, dumpers and other equipment safely and efficiently.
• Prepare sites, lay and finish concrete, and install formwork for structural elements.
• Carry out drainage, pit and duct installations, as well as grading and surface preparation.
• Use hand and power tools where authorised, following all health and safety procedures.
• Work both independently and as part of a crew, often away from home with overnight stays.

Required profile

• Full UK driving licence (essential).
• Valid CSCS card (essential); CPCS/NPORS plant tickets are desirable.
• Minimum five years’ experience in groundworks, including excavation, drainage and concrete work.
• Strong understanding of construction site health and safety practices.
• Ability to obtain a clean DBS check.
