Skilled Operative – Construction & Highways

About the role

FM Conway’s Structures Division is looking for a Skilled Operative to join the Strategic Networks team in Sevenoaks. The role is full‑time and permanent, supporting South London contracts and delivering construction works safely and to company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out construction activities with care and safety, using appropriate tools, safeguards and PPE.
• Report incidents, accidents or concerns promptly to line manager or site management.
• Ensure correct use of materials, minimise waste and maintain good housekeeping.
• Follow briefed work methodology and RAMS throughout the day.
• Check that company and hired plant is in working order before use and operate it only when trained.
• Support site set‑up and assist with pavement, kerbing, concreting, drainage and hard‑landscaping tasks.

Required profile

• Level 2 NVQ qualification and competence in at least one construction trade.
• Previous experience in highways or civil construction, preferably with pavement and drainage work.
• Valid CSCS card, medium/high‑risk confined space ticket and full UK driving licence.
• Good understanding of health and safety regulations and ability to work as part of a site team.
