SME Account Handler – Commercial Insurance

About the role

We are partnering with an award‑winning insurance brokerage to find an SME Account Handler. You will manage a portfolio of small‑ and medium‑enterprise commercial clients, focusing on renewals and mid‑term adjustments while delivering a high standard of service.

Key responsibilities

• Manage SME commercial accounts, handling renewals, mid‑term adjustments, claims, premium finance and general queries.
• Build trusted relationships with clients, providing clear advice and appropriate cover.
• Collaborate with Account Executives to retain and develop business through proactive re‑broking.
• Ensure all activity complies with FCA regulations and internal procedures, maintaining accurate records.
• Liaise with insurers and underwriters, managing policy documents and fostering strong relationships.
• Support colleagues, assist with complaints and take ownership of personal development and CPD.

Required profile

• Experience in SME commercial broking with knowledge of a range of commercial insurance products.
• Confident communicator with a customer‑focused approach and strong organisational skills.
• Willingness to work towards a CII Certificate (if not already qualified).

Required skills

• Proficiency with insurance systems such as Acturis or Open GI.
• Competent use of Microsoft Office applications.
