SME Account Handler

About the role

This role offers an experienced SME Account Handler the chance to join a busy commercial insurance team in Burgess Hill. You will take ownership of an existing client book, manage a high volume of work and deliver a phone‑first service. The position is based in the Burgess Hill office with occasional exposure to the London office, but it is not a hybrid role.

Key responsibilities

• Manage an established SME client book and maintain strong relationships to support high retention.
• Handle commercial renewals by reviewing requirements, obtaining terms and guiding clients through the process.
• Process mid‑term adjustments, ensuring accurate policy changes and clear communication.
• Manage work from a central inbox, taking ownership of renewals, client letters, terms and service requests.
• Maintain a phone‑first approach, resolving enquiries efficiently and providing personal support.
• Prioritise workload to meet deadlines and service expectations while handling a high volume of activity.

Required profile

• Recent commercial insurance account‑handling experience.
• Strong knowledge of commercial combined insurance.
• Experience handling property owners’ insurance.
• Confidence managing renewals, mid‑term adjustments and policy documentation.
• Ability to manage a busy workload with limited supervision.
• Acturis experience is advantageous.
