SME Partner Designate

About the role

We are seeking an ambitious accountant to join our well‑established SME practice in Rainham as an SME Partner Designate. This is a genuine succession opportunity, offering a clear pathway to partnership and eventual leadership of the firm within three to five years.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and review a diverse portfolio of SME accounts and tax assignments.
• Provide technical guidance and advisory support across multiple sectors.
• Oversee work prepared by junior team members, ensuring accuracy and high service standards.
• Mentor and develop junior staff, fostering a collaborative team environment.
• Maintain and grow strong client relationships, identifying opportunities for additional value‑added services.
• Support business development initiatives and contribute to the firm’s strategic growth.
• Handle work‑in‑progress management, billing, and commercial performance monitoring.

Required profile

• Significant experience within an accountancy practice, preferably at manager or senior manager level.
• Proven track record of managing SME clients and delivering high‑quality account and tax services.
• Strong commercial awareness, including WIP and billing management.
• Confidence in building client relationships and spotting new business opportunities.
• Motivation to progress into a senior leadership position.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of UK accounts and tax regulations.
