SME Underwriter – Credit Analyst

About the role

BMW Group Financial Services UK is seeking an experienced SME Underwriter to join the underwriting team at the Summit ONE Campus in Farnborough. You will evaluate financial proposals, assess credit risk and ensure compliance with AML and fraud guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate SME and consumer financial data and make justified credit decisions within approved authority.
• Analyse credit, anti‑money‑laundering and fraud risk in line with CONC guidelines and European AML directives.
• Support the SME underwriting team by identifying process improvements and enhancing AML and fraud competencies.
• Ensure adherence to credit and regulatory standards, including FCA, AML and financial‑crime requirements.
• Review additional customer information to substantiate underwriting decisions.
• Collaborate with compliance, risk, sales support and other underwriting teams.

Required profile

• Proven underwriting experience, preferably in commercial finance or leasing.
• Background in the automotive, leasing or broader financial‑services industry.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as FCA, AML and financial‑crime legislation.
• Excellent analytical abilities and sound judgement for decision‑making.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work to tight deadlines with high accuracy.
