Social Care Officer – Family Time

About the role

The Social Care Officer will support children and young people in care to enjoy safe and meaningful family time with their parents and relatives. Working primarily from one of Newcastle City Council's family centres, the role also involves occasional community visits.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organise and supervise family time visits for children and young people.
• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all participants during visits.
• Liaise with families, social workers and other professionals to coordinate appointments.
• Maintain accurate records of visits and outcomes.
• Manage mileage claims and utilise free parking facilities at family centres.
• Adhere to safeguarding policies and complete required DBS checks.

Required profile

• Experience working with children, young people, or families in a social care setting.
• Understanding of safeguarding procedures and child protection legislation.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Flexibility to travel between family centres and community locations.
• Eligibility to register with Remedy Recruitment for locum positions.
