Social Sciences Lecturer – Full‑Time (Day Rate £150‑£250)

About the role

Reed Education is partnering with a ‘Good’ Ofsted‑rated secondary school in Cambridgeshire to hire an enthusiastic Social Sciences Lecturer. The role starts in September 2026 and offers a full‑time, long‑term placement delivering engaging lessons to Key Stage 4 and 5 students.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and assess high‑quality lessons in Social Sciences subjects such as Psychology and Sociology.
• Teach across Key Stages 4 and 5, adapting content to student needs and experience level.
• Monitor student progress and provide targeted support to help learners achieve their potential.
• Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages critical thinking and discussion.
• Collaborate with departmental colleagues to uphold high standards of teaching and learning.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching one or more Social Sciences subjects in a secondary school or sixth‑form setting.
• Strong subject knowledge and a genuine passion for Social Sciences.
• Excellent classroom management and organisational abilities.
• Commitment to positive outcomes for all students and strong communication skills.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of Psychology, Sociology or related Social Sciences.
• Effective lesson planning and assessment techniques.
• Ability to foster critical thinking and discussion.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
