Social Worker – Fostering Team

About the role
Northumberland County Council is seeking a qualified Social Worker to join its Fostering Team on a part‑time basis (approximately 18.5 hours per week). You will work within a dynamic Residential & Family Placement Service, helping to ensure that children in care receive stable, loving foster placements.
Key responsibilities
- Recruit, assess, train and support foster carers.
- Supervise foster placements and maintain accurate case documentation.
- Participate in the duty rota, responding to placement needs and supporting colleagues in the locality teams.
- Collaborate with partners and stakeholders to represent the voice of the child.
- Provide regular reports and updates to senior management.
Required profile
- Qualified social worker with a valid Social Work England registration.
- Minimum two years post‑qualifying experience in statutory social work.
- Demonstrated experience working with children and families in care.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Experience in fostering and child protection processes.
