Social Worker – Fostering (Temporary Full‑time)

About the role

Coventry City Council is looking for a qualified Social Worker to join its Fostering Team on a temporary, full‑time basis. You will work directly with children, young people and foster families, delivering assessments, interventions and care‑plan management to safeguard vulnerable children.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a complex caseload under the guidance of a Team Manager.
• Conduct planned and intensive interventions with children, young people, parents and carers.
• Work on child protection cases and looked‑after children, ensuring statutory duties are met.
• Develop, monitor and review multi‑agency care plans.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with families, carers and partner agencies.
• Prepare reports for conferences, court proceedings and internal panels.
• Maintain accurate case records in line with local authority policies.
• Contribute to service improvement and performance management.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
• Experience in Children’s Services, preferably within a fostering team.
• Strong assessment, report‑writing and case‑management abilities.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Good knowledge of relevant legislation, safeguarding practice and statutory responsibilities.
• Ability to manage a demanding and complex caseload.
