Social Worker – Intake Unit

About the role

Our client, Kent County Council, is seeking a qualified Social Worker to join the Intake Unit. You will manage a caseload of newly arrived unaccompanied asylum‑seeking children who are placed in care, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a complex caseload of unaccompanied asylum‑seeking children, including assessments, reviews, report writing and court attendance.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with statutory, voluntary and private agencies, carers and parents to achieve positive outcomes.
• Record accurate information promptly using the council’s agreed information systems.
• Apply up‑to‑date legislation, local policies and procedures related to Looked After Children, Children in Need and Child Protection.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker registered with the appropriate professional body.
• Commitment to complete the ASYE standard within two years of qualification.
• Experience working with children in care, particularly unaccompanied asylum‑seeking children.
• Ability to work within the Social Care Capability Framework and handle complex, diverse cases.
