Social Worker – Locality Team (Westmoreland & Furness Council)

About the role

The Localities team at Westmoreland and Furness Council is seeking experienced Social Workers to join the Assessment and Safeguarding team within Children’s Services. The role is based in Barrow‑in‑Furness and offers a locum contract with a competitive rate of £45 per hour.

Key responsibilities

• Complete Section 47 and Section 17 enquiries.
• Support the duty rota and undertake Section 7 and Section 37 reports.
• Attend court hearings and provide analysis and evidence‑based recommendations.
• Engage with families over the long term, including direct work and capturing the child’s voice.
• Write conference reports and participate in Core Group Meetings and other conferences.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker with registration on Social Work England.
• Enhanced DBS (provided by the employer).
• Proven experience in children’s assessment, safeguarding and case management.
