Software and Electronics Engineer

About the role

Join a small, close‑knit engineering team that designs and supports control systems for bespoke scientific and laboratory equipment. You will work across production support, R&D and new product development, helping to evolve existing PLC solutions towards microcontroller‑based platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and support existing PLC control systems using Omron CX‑Programmer, ladder logic and structured text.
• Develop and maintain HMI interfaces for production equipment.
• Collaborate with an electronics engineer to integrate motor and pump control at the signal level.
• Support production and test teams with fault diagnosis and acceptance testing.
• Read and interpret wiring schematics produced by the electronics team.
• Begin building familiarity with microcontroller‑based control for future product development.
• Use Git for version control of software and configuration files.

Required profile

• Engineering background (degree, apprenticeship, HNC or HND).
• Minimum 4 years experience in a similar industrial/PLC role.
• Strong PLC programming skills, preferably with ladder logic and structured text.
• Experience with Omron CX‑Programmer is a plus.
• Comfortable reading electrical and wiring schematics.
• Curious and motivated to learn microcontroller and embedded systems concepts.
