Software Consultant

About the role

As a Software Consultant you will join the Innovation & Capital Tax Reliefs team, supporting a diverse portfolio of clients ranging from start‑ups to multinational corporations. You will work on R&D tax relief claims across manufacturing, engineering, life sciences, software and digital technologies, helping clients secure valuable tax incentives.

Key responsibilities

• Support meetings with clients and prospects across the region to explain our services.
• Contribute to claim methodology development and assist in preparing R&D tax relief submissions to HMRC.
• Liaise with colleagues in other tax areas to build an internal network.
• Prepare documentation and respond to HMRC enquiries on R&D tax claims.
• Keep the R&D engagement team updated on progress and any issues affecting client relationships.
• Support R&D engagements, including cost monitoring, billing, risk procedures, deliverables and client relationship management.

Required profile

• A 2:1 or above in Computer Science or a closely related technical discipline.
• Strong analytical mindset with a passion for software and technology.
• Excellent communication skills for client-facing interactions.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary tax team.
