Software Developer – Java & Microservices (12‑month contract)

About the role

We are seeking a Software Developer to join a market‑leading defence and aerospace client on a 12‑month contract based in Portsmouth. You will work on a new product development stream, building micro‑service based solutions using Java and modern Spring technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to all stages of the software development lifecycle, from design to deployment.
• Write automated tests and ensure code quality within an Agile (Scrum) environment.
• Design, implement and test features for a micro‑service architecture.
• Participate in sprint planning and provide accurate task estimations.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams using CI/CD pipelines.

Required profile

• Proven experience developing with Java (version 8 or higher).
• Hands‑on experience with micro‑service architectures and RESTful APIs.
• Comfortable working in an Agile/Scrum setting.
• Ability to estimate work and contribute to sprint planning.
