Software Developer – Test Facility Design (Hybrid, Bristol)

About the role

Rolls‑Royce is looking for a Software Developer to join its Test Facility Design team in Bristol. The role is hybrid, with three days a week on‑site, and involves developing software that directly interfaces with hardware and instrumentation used in gas‑turbine testing.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and mature software for measurement and data‑acquisition systems.
• Perform hands‑on lab work: set up, validate and commission software/hardware integrations on test rigs.
• Investigate and troubleshoot existing software, network and hardware issues.
• Introduce modern technologies and standards to improve system efficiency.
• Maintain and develop the Active Directory network used on the test site.
• Participate in multi‑function design reviews to align with customer requirements.
• Work under pressure to meet short‑term deadlines while adhering to safe lab practices.

Required skills

• Proficient in C++ and C programming languages.
• Experience integrating software with physical hardware systems.
• Knowledge of revision control systems such as Git or SVN.
• Good working knowledge of Windows client/server installation and configuration.
• Familiarity with Active Directory management.
