Software Development Manager

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Software Development Manager to lead a high‑performing engineering team in Greater Manchester. You will combine strategic thinking with day‑to‑day technical leadership, shaping the technology roadmap while mentoring engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the software development strategy, balancing technical excellence with business goals.
• Manage, mentor and grow a team of software engineers.
• Drive best practices in architecture, code quality, and delivery.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders to ensure technology supports commercial objectives.
• Champion innovation, continuous improvement and R&D initiatives.
• Help shape the future engineering function, including recruitment, team expansion and process development.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading software engineering teams.
• Strong software development background with hands‑on experience in Golang and modern web technologies.
• Experience building and deploying applications on AWS.
• Deep understanding of software architecture, cloud‑native development and engineering best practices.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Passion for coaching, mentoring and developing engineering talent.
