About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Software Development Manager to lead a high‑performing engineering team in Manchester. The role combines strategic technology leadership with day‑to‑day technical guidance, shaping the company’s roadmap while mentoring engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and deliver the company’s software development strategy, balancing technical leadership with people management.
• Manage, mentor and grow a team of software engineers.
• Drive best practices across software engineering, architecture, code quality and delivery.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure technology supports commercial objectives.
• Champion innovation, continuous improvement and R&D initiatives.
• Help shape the future engineering function, including recruitment, team expansion and development processes.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading software engineering teams.
• Strong software development background with hands‑on experience in Golang and modern web technologies.
• Experience building and deploying applications on AWS.
• Deep understanding of software architecture, cloud‑native development and engineering best practices.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Passion for coaching, mentoring and developing engineering talent.
