Software Engineer – Air Traffic Management (Hybrid)

About the role

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Air Traffic Management programme. The position is based in Whiteley, Hampshire and offers hybrid working. Candidates must be able to obtain UK Security Check (SC) clearance and will work on safety‑critical, real‑time air traffic control systems.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate issues across software applications and supporting systems.
• Contribute to the development, implementation and maintenance of software solutions.
• Participate in software architecture and design activities.
• Support change, configuration and release management.
• Identify and help manage technical risks and opportunities.
• Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Formal Test, project management and technical leaders.
• Develop software test plans and support test execution.
• Produce technical documentation, reports and supporting artefacts.
• Follow established engineering processes, standards and best practices.

Required profile

• Experience or strong interest in Unix/Linux operating systems.
• Familiarity with programming languages such as C, C++, Python, PL/SQL, HTML or JavaScript.
• Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, Bourne Shell, Perl).
• Understanding of virtualisation, cloud computing concepts and TCP/IP networking.
• Experience with the full software engineering lifecycle (requirements, design, development, testing, maintenance).
• Eligibility to obtain SC clearance.
