Software Engineer III – Python/Java

About the role

We are looking for a Software Engineer III to join JPMorgan Chase’s AI/ML and Data Platform team in Glasgow. In this role you will help design, build and maintain secure, high‑performance software that supports the firm’s data‑driven business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Execute software design, development and technical troubleshooting, delivering secure, high‑quality production code.
• Create and maintain algorithms that run synchronously with relevant systems.
• Perform platform design, setup and configuration, providing engineering support to data engineering, data science/ML and application integration teams.
• Collaborate with engineering and data teams to optimise infrastructure and deployment processes, emphasizing automation and operational excellence.
• Identify and automate remediation of recurring issues to improve stability of applications and systems.
• Leverage enterprise‑approved AI coding‑assist tools for code generation, refactoring, unit‑test creation and documentation, while ensuring peer review and secure coding standards.
• Apply SDLC toolchain knowledge, including AI‑assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase delivery value.
• Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups and internal teams to assess architectural designs and technical suitability.
• Contribute to software engineering communities of practice and promote diversity, inclusion and respect within the team.

Required profile

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts.
• Significant hands‑on experience delivering software solutions in an agile environment.
• Extensive experience with AWS and the Databricks platform.
• Proven ability to design, configure and support data‑centric platforms.
• Experience working with data engineering, data science/ML and integration teams.
