Software Engineer

About the role

Join a dynamic, multi‑disciplinary team delivering transformational digital architecture for health and social care in Scotland. You will work on the National Digital Platform (NDP), an open, standards‑based platform that provides reusable technical services at national population scale.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and operate a technical environment and digital services for NHS Scotland, the Scottish Government and the care sector.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of the National Digital Platform, ensuring it remains open, standards‑based and reusable.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects and other engineers to deliver high‑quality software aligned with Scotland's Digital Health and Care Strategy.
• Support the transformation of digital services, promoting sustainable software development and reuse.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in software development for large‑scale, mission‑critical systems.
• Understanding of health or public sector digital services is desirable.
• Eligibility to work in the UK and ability to maintain this status throughout employment.
