Software Engineer

About the role

Opencast is looking for Software Engineers who value craftsmanship over speed. You will work in consultancy teams, delivering high‑quality code using test‑driven development, pair programming and agile practices while collaborating closely with clients across the UK.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and refactor software solutions for a variety of client projects.
• Work on‑site with client teams, participating in daily pair‑programming sessions.
• Apply test‑driven development (TDD) and extreme programming techniques to ensure robust, maintainable code.
• Engage with stakeholders to understand requirements, challenge assumptions and guide technical decisions.
• Mentor junior team members and share best practices.

Required profile

• Strong commitment to clean design, simple solutions and continuous improvement.
• Enjoys in‑person collaboration and building long‑term client relationships.
• Willingness to travel regularly to client locations across the UK.
• Eligible for UK Security Check (SC) clearance or able to obtain it.
