Software Engineer – Kotlin & React (6-month contract)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join Deutsche Bank’s engineering team in London on a 6-month contract. The role focuses on building the next generation of a business-critical platform that delivers richer client insights for sales teams. The position is hybrid, requiring three days a week in the office.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable full-stack applications using Kotlin and React.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to refine requirements and deliver iterative releases.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes and production support.
• Monitor, troubleshoot and optimise the performance and reliability of live services.
• Participate in architectural discussions, code reviews, pair programming and knowledge-sharing sessions.

Required profile

• Strong commercial experience in full-stack or back-end software engineering.
• Proficiency with JVM-based technologies, preferably Kotlin (or Java with Kotlin knowledge).
• Hands-on experience with TypeScript and React is advantageous.
• Solid understanding of OOP, functional programming concepts and design patterns.
• Experience working in Extreme Programming environments (TDD, pair programming, continuous refactoring, trunk-based development).
