Software Engineer – Secure Defence Technology

About the role

Join a specialist technology business delivering secure digital solutions for Defence and National Security. As a Software Engineer you will work on high‑impact projects where your code directly supports critical operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain secure software in regulated environments.
• Build Android applications using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
• Develop scalable backend services and APIs with Rust, Python or Go.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers and delivery teams to solve complex technical challenges.
• Manage source code and team collaboration through Git‑based workflows.
• Containerise applications with Docker and create reliable CI/CD pipelines.
• Write clean, maintainable, well‑documented code and participate in peer reviews.
• Support rapid prototyping and proof‑of‑concept work where requirements evolve quickly.

Required profile

• Commercial experience developing Android applications with Kotlin.
• Strong knowledge of Git and collaborative development practices.
• Experience building backend services using Rust, Python or Go.
• Understanding of software engineering principles such as MVVM, APIs and modern development standards.
• Hands‑on experience with Docker and containerised applications.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities and comfort working in secure development environments.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
