Software Engineering Lead (Full Sack)

About the role

Robert Walters is partnering with a national leading software solutions provider to find a Software Engineering Lead (Full Sack). You will drive the technical delivery of a large‑scale digital transformation, working in a hybrid model with one day a week in the Birmingham office and the rest remote.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the execution of the product roadmap, ensuring high‑quality software is delivered on time.
• Define and enforce engineering standards, testing practices and release processes.
• Design scalable system architecture and modernise legacy components.
• Guarantee security, data integrity and platform stability across all solutions.
• Collaborate with the CTO, Product Manager, QA and BA teams to align delivery with business goals.
• Mentor a cross‑functional team of seven developers, identifying skill gaps and creating learning plans.
• Spend roughly 60% of time hands‑on coding, tackling complex backend and frontend challenges.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in software engineering teams.
• Strong problem‑solving ability and a passion for delivering reliable, high‑performance systems.
• Excellent communication skills to work with senior stakeholders and guide technical direction.

Required skills

• C# and the modern .NET ecosystem ( .NET Core.NET 5+ ).
• Experience with legacy .NET Web Forms (.NET 4.8).
• Building secure, high‑performance RESTful APIs.
• Deep knowledge of SQL Server, including schema design, query optimisation and Entity Framework.
• Fundamental proficiency in TypeScript for front‑end development.
