Solar Technical Designer – Leeds

About the role

We are a rapidly growing renewable energy organisation specialising in the design and delivery of domestic Solar PV and Battery Storage systems. Based in Leeds, the Solar Technical Designer will support the UK’s transition to clean energy by providing high‑quality, compliant technical solutions for our customers.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily desktop surveys of Solar PV and Battery Storage installations, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
• Review customer‑selected products for suitability and raise any concerns before material dispatch.
• Provide accurate, tailored technical advice and excellent customer service.
• Support engineers by advising on best practice, technical requirements, and customer service standards.
• Identify and manage abnormal or high‑risk issues that could affect installation quality or customer satisfaction.
• Maintain clear, accurate, and compliant job records and communicate effectively with customers, engineers, and internal teams.
• Assist with wider technical and operational functions as required.

Required profile

• Strong technical understanding of Solar PV systems, electrical components, and installation requirements.
• Proven experience in Solar PV installation, inspection, design, or technical auditing.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and installation documentation.
• Highly detail‑oriented with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Confident working independently and as part of a collaborative technical team.
