Solicitor / Associate / Senior Associate (Construction)

About the role

Birketts LLP is seeking a qualified solicitor to join its Construction team within the Dispute Resolution Division. The role involves providing both contentious and non‑contentious construction advice to a diverse client base across the public and private sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and negotiate standard and bespoke construction contracts (JCT, ICE, NEC, GC/Works, ACE, RIBA, RICS).
• Advise borrowers and lenders on construction aspects of real‑estate finance transactions.
• Manage construction dispute matters, including litigation, arbitration, adjudication and other forms of ADR.
• Provide advice to public sector bodies (local authorities, NHS Trusts, academies) and private clients (developers, contractors, consultants).

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with proven experience in construction law.
• Demonstrated ability to handle both transactional and dispute work for a range of clients.
• Commitment to teamwork, mentoring and clear career progression.

Required skills

• Knowledge of industry‑standard form contracts: JCT, ICE, NEC, GC/Works, ACE, RIBA, RICS.
• Experience in construction finance and real‑estate finance transactions.
• Competence in litigation, arbitration, adjudication and alternative dispute resolution.
