Solicitor – Property and Policy Coverage

About the role

The successful candidate will handle a case load of Household and Commercial Property recovery files from a selection of the team’s well‑known insurers. This technical, client‑facing role offers the chance to build client relationships through training, mentoring and delivering first‑class legal solutions to complex problems.

Key responsibilities

• Initial review and reporting of recovery files.
• Dealing with disclosure and reviewing evidence.
• Conducting investigations and instructing counsel and experts.
• Legal research and drafting of documents.
• Attending conferences and trials with counsel.
• Managing routine correspondence and liaising with lay and insurer clients.
• Engaging in settlement negotiations, including drafting Part 36 offers.
• Preparing pre‑action and interim applications and trial documents.
• Assisting with ADR, including mediation.
• Court appointments and conducting advocacy by telephone and in person.
• Ensuring compliance with SRA Standards & Regulations.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a defendant insurance litigation firm.
• Litigation experience specifically relating to recoveries.
• Working knowledge of household and commercial property recoveries.
• Ability to prioritise workload and pay attention to detail.
• Proficiency with case management systems.
• Personal skills to manage major, expensive litigation and liaise with senior claims handlers.
