Solicitor Team Leader – Contested Litigation (Newcastle)

About the role

This is a hands‑on leadership position within a well‑established North East law firm. You will lead a busy contested litigation team while continuing to work on high‑quality, technically challenging cases.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and support a team of litigation fee earners.
• Provide technical guidance throughout the lifecycle of litigated claims.
• Work closely with senior management to meet team and departmental performance targets.
• Coach, mentor and develop junior lawyers and fee earners.
• Authorise key stages of litigation for assistant fee earners.
• Monitor KPIs, case progression and overall team performance.
• Promote best practice, compliance and continuous improvement.
• Foster a collaborative, high‑performing team environment.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor status.
• Strong experience handling RTA litigation, especially Credit Hire and Vehicle Damage disputes.
• Excellent knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules and Pre‑Action Protocols.
• Previous experience leading, supervising or mentoring a team, or a genuine desire to step into a leadership role.
• Strong commercial awareness and decision‑making ability.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
