Solicitor Team Leader – Contested RTA & Personal Injury (Newcastle)

About the role

This is a senior solicitor position leading the Contested Litigation and Personal Injury team in Newcastle. You will work closely with the Principal Solicitor, balancing technical legal oversight with people management to ensure high‑quality, profitable litigation.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise day‑to‑day activities of fee earners and provide guidance on complex RTA and personal injury claims.
• Authorise key litigation steps, including Part 7 and Part 8 proceedings and pre‑action protocols.
• Monitor individual and team performance against financial and operational targets.
• Identify development needs, mentor junior solicitors and foster a supportive team culture.
• Liaise with senior management, other team leaders and external counsel to implement litigation strategy.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with solid experience in RTA and personal injury contested litigation.
• Proven ability to supervise, mentor or lead a commercial legal team.
• Comfortable with the commercial aspects of high‑volume litigation and client service expectations.

Required skills

• RTA liability and factual causation expertise.
• Credit hire and vehicle damage claim handling.
• Pre‑Action Protocols knowledge.
• Part 7 and Part 8 proceedings experience.
• Familiarity with Civil Procedure Rules and relevant Practice Directions.
