Solution Architect – Land CEMA

About the role

Leonardo is seeking a Solution Architect with a background in Defence Communications or Cyber & Electromagnetic Activities (CEMA) to lead the design and delivery of its Land CEMA portfolio for UK and international customers. The position is hybrid, based in Southampton, Basildon or Bristol.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain high awareness of Land CEMA architecture standards (C5ISR/EW systems) and ensure interoperability and resilience.
• Architect and deliver CEMA capabilities across enterprise and system levels, balancing bespoke development with COTS integration.
• Shape technical and commercial strategy, evaluate alternative approaches, and provide cost estimates for bids and campaigns.
• Lead technical input to bids, produce solution architectures, and support capability management for product portfolios.
• Engage directly with customers, partners, and industry stakeholders to translate operational needs into clear technical solutions.
• Generate thought‑leadership through white papers, studies, and stakeholder engagement.
• Support recruitment, mentoring, and the development of engineering talent.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Solutions Architect in defence communications, cyber, or electromagnetic activities.
• Strong background in enterprise architecture and system‑level design.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams in bid preparation and external studies.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
