Solutions Architect

About the role

Aflac is building next‑generation technology platforms to transform insurance products and customer experiences. The Solutions Architect will shape the architecture of cloud‑native, AI‑enabled solutions across data, integrations and user‑facing workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own solution architecture across multiple engineering teams, covering data processing, system integrations and user‑facing workflows.
• Produce and maintain architectural artefacts such as Solution Architecture Descriptions, Architecture Decision Records, non‑functional requirement specifications and Well‑Architected Review assessments.
• Lead API contract modelling, ensuring clean system boundaries, versioning discipline and integration consistency.
• Identify and escalate architectural risks related to integration contracts, data consistency, performance at scale and regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• 5+ years experience as a Solutions Architect or senior technical design role with accountability for complex multi‑system programs.
• Proven experience designing and delivering cloud‑native solutions on AWS, including microservices, event‑driven architectures and serverless compute.
• Strong track record of producing architectural artefacts and working within enterprise architecture governance frameworks.

Required skills

• AWS (EC2, RDS/Aurora, Lambda, API Gateway, Well‑Architected Tool)
• Design of REST and event‑based API contracts, integration platforms
• Data architecture patterns: pipelines, relational stores, event sourcing, graph databases (Neptune)
• Experience with ADRs, NFR specifications and Well‑Architected Reviews
