Sous Chef – Part‑time (Gloucester)

About the role

Marston's is looking for a motivated Sous Chef to join its Gloucester pub kitchen on a part‑time basis. You will work directly under the Head Chef, helping to deliver high‑quality dishes while maintaining a safe and efficient kitchen environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations and step in as acting Head Chef when required.
• Manage the line during service, ensuring dishes are prepared and presented to standard.
• Oversee, organise and mentor the kitchen team, fostering skill development.
• Maintain food safety and hygiene standards at all times.
• Assist with inventory control and ordering of supplies.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a similar branded kitchen role or as an experienced Commis Chef.
• Strong passion for food quality and service excellence.
• Ability to work flexible, part‑time hours (approximately 14 hrs per week).
• Team‑player attitude with a willingness to learn and progress.

Required skills

• Proficiency in standard kitchen equipment and cooking techniques.
• Understanding of food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP).
