Sous Chef – Professional Catering Operations

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join a professional catering operation in Cambridge. Working closely with the Head Chef, you will help maintain high standards across fine dining, conferences, formal events and student dining services.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Head Chef in day‑to‑day kitchen management and assume full responsibility in their absence.
• Lead, supervise and develop the kitchen team, delegating tasks, delivering training and assisting with recruitment and performance management.
• Maintain high standards of food preparation, presentation, food safety and stock control across all catering operations.
• Assist with menu development, food ordering, cost control and accurate kitchen documentation.
• Collaborate with Front of House teams to ensure seamless service and clear communication.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Sous Chef or senior kitchen role in a high‑quality catering environment.
• Confidence working across all kitchen sections and a passion for exceptional food.
• Strong leadership, organisational and communication abilities.
• Commercial awareness with experience in stock management, cost control and food safety standards.
• Flexibility to work five days a week, including evenings and weekends as needed.

• Salary of £41,630 per annum.
