Spacecraft Control Specialist

About the role

Join Babcock’s Corsham site as a Spacecraft Control Specialist, where you will be responsible for the safe operation of military satellite communication constellations. You will receive on‑site theoretical and simulator training before taking part in 24/7/365 spacecraft manoeuvres.

Key responsibilities

• Test and operate all aspects of Military Satellite Communication (MIL SAT COM) systems.
• Deliver spacecraft operations and manoeuvres during a 12‑hour shift as part of a continuous mission.
• Monitor and control a geosynchronous satellite constellation and its ground segment.
• Command spacecraft accurately to execute authorised procedures safely and on time.
• Maintain and update competency records in the Currency Matrix.
• Complete regular competency assessments to retain Suitably Qualified Experienced Person status.
• Supervise and mentor newly trained staff during operations and ground‑segment reconfigurations.

Required profile

• Experience supporting change and improving service delivery.
• Strong interpersonal skills, able to inspire confidence.
• Calm and professional in uncertain or challenging situations.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse cultures and backgrounds.
• UK national eligible for Security Check (SC) clearance.
• STEM degree preferred or Level 3 equivalent experience.
