Special Education Needs Tutor – Part‑time (Bromley)

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking a passionate Special Education Needs Tutor to deliver one‑to‑one tuition in Functional Skills, Maths and English for looked‑after children and students with EHCPs in Bromley. The role is part‑time, temporary and offers flexible morning, noon or evening sessions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide personalised 1:1 tuition in Functional Skills, Maths and/or English, adapting lessons to each learner’s ability and learning profile.
• Support pupils with a range of SEN, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, global development delay and communication difficulties.
• Design and deliver individualised lesson plans aligned with EHCPs or identified support needs.
• Use a calm, consistent and encouraging approach to build trust and foster engagement.
• Liaise with parents, carers and professionals to ensure coordinated support.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year experience working with children or young people with SEN in an educational or therapeutic setting.
• Experience teaching or supporting Functional Skills and core subjects (Maths or English).
• Right to work in the UK and willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
• Desirable: SEN qualification, ABA experience, training in Autism/Social Communication strategies, PGCE or QTS, experience in alternative provision.
