Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) – Permanent

About the role

The Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) will join the senior leadership team of an outstanding SEN school in Gloucester. You will lead the development and delivery of SEN policy and provision, ensuring that pupils with additional needs receive high‑quality, well‑planned support.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the school’s SEN policy and provision across all year groups.
• Collaborate with senior leaders, staff, parents, carers and external agencies to create a whole‑school approach to inclusion.
• Coordinate interventions, monitor progress and ensure effective support for pupils with additional needs.
• Provide guidance and training to staff on inclusive practice and SEN strategies.
• Maintain accurate records and produce reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Qualified SENCO with proven leadership experience.
• Strong understanding of inclusive practice and day‑to‑day SEN provision.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with staff, families and external agencies.
• Willingness to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
• Commitment to improving outcomes for pupils with additional needs.
