Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (ADHD & Autism)

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to support primary and secondary pupils with ADHD and autism in a specialist school in Liverpool. The role offers a nurturing environment focused on positive, non‑punitive support.

Key responsibilities

• Provide individualized assistance to students with ADHD and autism, addressing learning and sensory needs.
• Help develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and monitor student progress.
• Collaborate with teachers, specialists and therapists to deliver sensory integration and communication support.
• Facilitate one‑to‑one and group activities, ensuring a safe and supportive classroom atmosphere.
• Utilise assistive technology and educational tools to enhance learning experiences.

Required profile

• Proven experience working with children, preferably in a special‑education setting.
• Understanding of ADHD, autism and related sensory and communication challenges.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Patience, empathy and a commitment to student development.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents and other professionals.

Required skills

• Experience with assistive technology and educational software.
