Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (Bolton)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to support vulnerable and challenging‑behaviour students in Bolton. The role offers the chance to work in an alternative provision, specialist or mainstream primary setting, providing both academic and pastoral assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 or small‑group support to pupils across academic subjects and extra‑curricular activities.
• Implement and maintain effective behaviour management strategies for young people with challenging behaviour.
• Support pupils with SEN and SEMH needs, adapting activities to promote inclusion.
• Collaborate with teachers and senior staff to develop individualized support plans.
• Provide long‑term, consistent assistance to ensure continuity of care and learning.

Required profile

• Proven experience working with young people who display difficult behaviour.
• Strong behaviour management techniques and a resilient, patient attitude.
• Passion for supporting learning and personal development of vulnerable students.
• Experience with SEN/SEMH pupils is desirable.
• Primary school experience is essential; a degree is advantageous but not mandatory.
