Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant – EYFS 1:1 Support

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to provide one‑to‑one support for a non‑verbal pupil in an EYFS classroom. The role is based in the A6 Corridor of a primary school in Great Eccleston and runs for the full academic year, with the possibility of becoming permanent.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver personalised 1:1 assistance to the assigned pupil throughout the school day.
• Support the child’s communication, learning and social development.
• Provide personal care, including toileting and hygiene, as required.
• Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored support strategies.
• Encourage participation in classroom activities and maintain a safe, inclusive environment.
• Record observations and feedback on the pupil’s progress when needed.

Required profile

• Experience working with children in an EYFS or primary setting.
• Patient, compassionate and resilient attitude.
• Confidence in supporting pupils with additional needs.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to undertake personal care responsibilities.
• Relevant Teaching Assistant qualifications are desirable but not essential.
