Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (Primary)

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Primary SEN Teaching Assistant to support a reception‑aged child on a 1:2:1 basis. The role is morning‑only, starting 1 September 2026, and offers the chance to develop specialised communication skills.

Key responsibilities

• Work closely with a reception‑aged pupil, delivering tailored learning activities.
• Implement and adapt educational support under the lead teacher’s guidance.
• Use Makaton to facilitate communication and enhance learning.
• Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to the classroom teacher.
• Adjust support to meet the child’s emotional and developmental needs.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar educational role (preferred).
• Willingness to complete Makaton training before the start date if not already qualified.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to the full academic year.

Required skills

• Makaton (knowledge or willingness to train).
