Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant – Secondary

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a secondary school in Lancaster on a full‑time basis. The role supports pupils individually or in small groups, focusing on their educational, behavioural and social development.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group support to enhance pupils' learning.
• Assist with the educational, behavioural and social development of students.
• Collaborate closely with teachers to tailor support to each pupil's needs.
• Create a supportive, inclusive and safe learning environment.
• Monitor and record pupils' progress and share feedback with teachers and parents.

Required profile

• Demonstrated reliability, commitment and genuine interest in working with students.
• Role‑model qualities such as compassion, trustworthiness, politeness and good listening skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills; punctual, patient and confident when working with children.
• Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous but not essential.
