Special Guardianship Service Coordinator Social Worker

About the role

The Special Guardianship Service (SGS) within Salford Fostering is seeking a full‑time Coordinator Social Worker. You will join a small, supportive team delivering advice, guidance and therapeutic‑informed support to special guardians, birth parents and children.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of special guardianship assessments, placements and annual reviews.
• Coordinate support arrangements, adoption support fund applications and related paperwork.
• Provide advice and information to colleagues, external professionals and families.
• Deliver workshops, training sessions and facilitate support groups.
• Work collaboratively using the Family Partnership Model across the local authority.

Required profile

• Qualified and professionally registered social worker.
• Strong knowledge of current legislation, regulations and the special guardianship framework.
• Proven ability to work with complex families, child protection and legal matters.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to prioritize an independent caseload.
