Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Liverpool

About the role

Hays Education is seeking dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistants to work in schools across Liverpool. You will provide one‑to‑one support for pupils with a range of special needs, helping them engage with the curriculum and achieve their personal learning goals.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver personalised, one‑to‑one assistance to pupils with ADHD, Aspergers, autism and other learning difficulties.
• Support classroom teachers by preparing materials and facilitating inclusive activities.
• Implement behaviour management strategies and maintain a safe, supportive learning environment.
• Monitor pupil progress and communicate observations to teachers and parents.

Required profile

• Recent experience (minimum 6 months) working with children in an educational setting.
• Demonstrated experience supporting pupils with special needs.
• Confident, patient and able to build trusting relationships with pupils.
• Strong behaviour management skills.
